Cloth Diapers – Yay or Nay?

My son, Matthew, is 13 months old (where did the time go?!). Since he was 9 weeks old we have been using cloth diapers. I did hours and hours of research on which diapers fit the best, which ones were the easiest to clean, how many we would need, etc. We ended up buying 24 of the bumGenius Freetime All-In-One One-Size Cloth Diaper.

Cloth Diapers

My husband (Justin) and I have loved them from day one. We loved that we did not have to buy diapers every week and that we were not throwing countless diapers into the landfill everyday. Well, now it looks like we will have to go down that route…..

Matthew has had a pretty bad diaper rash on and off for the past month. Every time he gets it we put him in disposables so we can use regular rash cream and it clears up. After being in the cloth diapers for a couple days it all comes back again. We have ruled out everything else and have come to the conclusion that Matthew just has sensitive skin. While I am sad to pack up the diapers (we will try again with the next kid!) – I am glad that Matthew will be comfortable. At least until we start potty training 🙂

30 by 30

My two very best girlfriends and I are coming up on our 30th birthdays in a couple years. We are all looking forward to this huge milestone (and have a big trip in the works to celebrate!) but have a few things we would like to accomplish before that day hits.

One the girls, Meredith, brought up the idea of us making a 30 by 30 list and sharing it with each other on our respective birthdays. I thought it was a fantastic idea and have started to build mine. One of the items on the list was to start a blog. I have read blogs for years and always thought of starting one. Well – it’s now or never. I hope I can use this space to document my family adventures, running challenges and life events.

Join me as I start crossing things off my list!
